Nice to meet you!

I'm Julie Massicotte, the creator of Atelier Pastourelle, a handcrafted Quebec-based company nestled in Lanaudière, Quebec.

My journey has always been guided by the arts and my passion for history. Since I'm mostly self-taught, I decided around the age of 15 that my first little job would be selling drawings. I mainly took portrait commissions at that time, and had a few exhibitions here and there, and it worked out quite well. I realize today that I was unknowingly laying the groundwork for my future business!

Expertise

I also enjoy exploring other traditional techniques such as embroidery and paper making, which I now incorporate into my notebooks. One thing led to another, and I eventually created this online store, where I can work from the comfort of my own home! And that's a pure delight!

I also invite you to take a look at my blog Secrets d'Atelier, a kind of home laboratory where I share my experiences and knowledge, thoughts on bookbinding, and behind-the-scenes glimpses of my creative process.

Inspiration

After studying visual arts, I explored other fields. I studied traditional Quebec flute and ethnology. These two disciplines nourish my imagination and my connection to history. Having spent my childhood summers in a cottage by a lake, nature has always inevitably been a source of inspiration.

It was much later that I turned to another form of creation: bookbinding. I found myself in this world where calm, slowness, and a love of books come together. Making objects with my own hands (and a bit of my brain) allows me to find the joy of bringing an art object to life from a skill that is increasingly being lost.

Our Mission & Vision

Coffee's mission is to offer love and hope to those in need through funds from a great cup of coffee. We want to inspire and educate our coffee lovers in ways that enhance their experience with us and encourage them to be an outlet of hope for others.

We want to create a coffee culture that is built around quality, sociability, and affordability so that everyone can enjoy our product and share in our outreach. Our goal is to continue to grow our business in ways that will allow us to give more, this will include things like scholarships for local graduating seniors, food programs, and much more! We have BIG plans for coffee and appreciate you joining us on this journey!

"To repeat actions that people performed hundreds of years ago becomes meaningful and an essential value in my workshop."
