Enchanted! I'm Julie Massicotte, the creator of Atelier Pastourelle, a handcrafted Quebec company nestled in Lanaudière, Quebec.

My journey has always been guided by the arts and my passion for history. Around the age of 15, I started exhibiting and selling my paintings and drawings. I mainly took portrait commissions, and I had my own little business!
It was later that I turned to another form of creation: crafts. Creating objects by hand allows me to find the pleasure of simply making things and sharing my art, like a return to my roots.
I was also led to explore other fields, such as traditional music and ethnology, two disciplines that nourish my imagination, my connection to history and ancient savoir-faire such as embroidery, bookbinding, and gilding, which I now incorporate into my handmade notebooks.
Then, thanks to my online store, I can reach people from all over, while sharing my Made-in-Quebec universe with them, all from the comfort of my workshop!

My approach
It all started with La Pastourelle, my traditional Quebec music group, and the desire to create our own artisanal soaps for a crowdfunding campaign. The word pastourelle, derived from the Latin pastor ("shepherd"), refers to a medieval song inspired by country life and reflects the poetic and artisanal universe that drives me. Curious about ancient craftsmanship, I delved into bookbinding and artisanal stationery. Little by little, Atelier Pastourelle was born: a place where heritage, creation, and poetry meet.
In my shop, I offer unique and durable notebooks – true gifts for anyone who loves to write, draw, document… and take their time. Each notebook is made using traditional bookbinding methods, entirely handcrafted in Quebec.
I also invite you to take a look at my blog Secrets d'Atelier, a kind of home laboratory where I share my experiences and knowledge, reflections on bookbinding, paper, the history of craftsmanship, and the behind-the-scenes of my creative process.
Welcome to my world!
Julie from Atelier Pastourelle ♡
